This Autumn
his avocado tree
is more than neighbour now

leaning over our yielded fence,
inclining towards the hedge,
homing in and showing off,

gossip ripe and intimate.

I reach out to the branch's reach
and take this offered fruit

that seems to fall
around my feet.
